Ein Baby kann natürlich noch nicht richtig schwimmen, es hat aber schon viel Spaß daran, in den sicheren Händen seiner Eltern zu paddeln und zu planschen. Deshalb kann das Baby schwimmen auch schon mit ganz kleinen Kindern durchgeführt werden. Das Baby schwimmen ist ein Spaß für Eltern und Kind, hat einen gesundheitlichen Nutzen und kann das Verhältnis zwischen Eltern und Kind positiv beeinflussen. Es stärkt aber vor allem das Kind selbst. Das Baby erlernt so schon früh die Freude an der Bewegung, bekommt kräftige Lungen und eine gute Körperhaltung. So kann man schon in jungen Jahren mit dem Baby schwimmen den Grundstein für ein gesundes Leben legen. Für das Kind ist das Baby schwimmen aber auch durchaus entspannend und wohltuend.

Ab wann ist das Schwimmen mit dem Baby sinnvoll

Man kann das Baby eigentlich in jedem Alter mit ins Schwimmbad nehmen und an einem Kurs zum Baby schwimmen teilnehmen. Zusammen mit anderen Müttern oder Vätern macht das gleich noch viel mehr Spaß. Man braucht aber nicht unbedingt einen Kurs zu belegen. Früher galt die Empfehlung, bis zu den ersten Schutzimpfungen des Babys mit drei oder vier Monaten zu warten, heute gilt diese jedoch als veraltet. Das Baby schwimmen kann also mittlerweile für jedes Alter empfohlen werden. Am Anfang ist es besser bei speziellen Kursen oder an bestimmten Tagen mit dem Baby schwimmen zu gehen, denn ein lautes, öffentliches Schwimmbad kann das Baby verängstigen. Die ersten Male sollte man also die Ruhe suchen. Dann wird das Baby zuerst einmal sanft und sachte an das Wasser gewöhnt.

Was wird zum Schwimmen mit dem Baby benötigt

In den meisten öffentlichen Bädern sind die Schwimmwindeln Pflicht, sie gehören ansonsten aber auch einfach zum guten Ton beim Baby schwimmen. Schwimmflügel sind für das Baby noch zu groß, es gibt aber ganz spezielle Schwimmhilfen für das Baby. Diese werden beim Baby schwimmen jedoch nicht unbedingt benötigt. Auch das Schwimmbad sollte man gezielt auswählen. Es muss auf jeden Fall einen Wickeltisch geben, nicht schlecht sind auch ein Kinderwageneingang und ein Laufstall für Babys.
